My suggestion was to ask Cardinal Mindszenty and other respected church leaders to come immediately to the government's assistance by speaking to the public over the radio. Bela Kovacs, Anna Kethly, and a few of us who enjoyed some reputation, must do the same. He agreed and asked me to prepare my statement as soon as possible.
