BEANFEASTERS

They were called Beanfeasters because they ate nothing but beans, with occasional sausages. At that time they were in terrible difficulties because the previous year the slugs and snails had eaten up all the beans; strange as it may seem, there wasn't a single bean left in the whole kingdom.
The king of the Beanfeasters wanted to buy beans from other countries, but it was not as easy as that. The neighbouring kings refused to sell any of their beans, although they had plenty.
" Let those Beanfeasters starve for a little while," they said. "When they get really hungry they'll pay us a fortune for a sack or two of beans. . . ."
And so it was that the king of the Beanfeasters and his people had to face the fact that they were not going to get any more beans; they would have to live on sausages alone. The king was so furious that he sacked all his ministers,
