Biographical and Historical Note. Vergil (10 B.c.-19 B.C.) was a famous Roman poet who told the story of Aeneas in his great poem, the Aeneid, written in the Latin language. In this poem Vergil makes the founder of Rome the direct descendant of the Trojan hero, Aeneas.
