They descended the great flight of steps before them, and at last arrived at a small square room. This was evidently a sort of inner hall for there were several doors leading out of it. Her father opened one of these, and she found that they were in a garden she had never seen before. After all, this was not so very extraordinary considering the castle was so huge, but she had no time to ask questions. Her father quickly led the way along a path which ran by the castle wall.
