Mothers Cry

The next morning I got a lovely breakfast for Danny and Sadye all ready. Danny's cab was in a garage around the corner and Mr. Noonan had told Danny he better take it out about eight o'clock so as to catch the bosses going to work. I knocked at Danny's door about a quarter to eight and I called out good morning Danny breakfast is ready. And Danny said all right ma. But after a while it was a quarter past eight and I knocked again and he said all right ma I'm getting right up. And,, then it was half past eight and it seemed like the clock never went around so fast as it did that morning. So then I remembered how I used to feel in the morning about getting up when I was in the beginning of going to have a baby and I put Sadye's breakfast on a tray to bring in to her and I thought I might as well put Danny's breakfast on the tray while I'm at it. I fixed the tray up real pretty and I put a few morning glories in an egg cup just for fun because they looked so nice and fresh. I was just opening the door to Danny's room when Beatty came down the stairs for breakfast. She saw me standing there with the tray and without saying anything she ran upstairs again and I heard her go out the front door to school and she hadn't had any breakfast.
I tapped Danny on the shoulder and Danny said what is it ma and I said here's Sadye's breakfast and yours and then you must get up and take your cab out. So Danny said all right put the breakfast down on the table and he was getting kind of mad so I went out.
Then it was nine o'clock and I didn't hear Danny getting up so I knocked at the door again and I said Danny it's nine o'clock. Then I jumped because Danny yelled so loudly for christ's sake will you shut up and let me sleep.
I sat down on a kitchen chair and I began getting frightened about Danny again. Afterwards I got up and I
