I ran to the door and Beatty ran too and Artie and when we opened the door there were a lot of men running down the stairs and up the street and Artie said what the devil is it all about and then Beatty screamed it's Danny and she fainted.
Artie carried her in first to the parlor and she came to while she was in his arms and she was crying and laughing together and saying Danny Danny he's all bleeding. I was bending over Danny on the porch and the light was shining from the parlor and there was blood coming out of his mouth and blood over his shirt. He was lying all in a pile. I helped Artie carry him in to his room and we put him on the bed and he began to moan and moan. His face was all cut-there was a big cut on his head and one of his eyes was swollen and his lips were all cut and swollen. Artie said get some water quick and Beatty ran to the bathroom. Take the white basin I said it's clean. Artie washed off his face and Danny opened his other eye. Beatty run quick and get a doctor I said but when Danny heard me he nearly jumped out of bed and he said jesus christ don't get a doctor and then he fell back again on the bed and was crying and groaning.
