Jenny was a nice little thing quiet and good all the time. She liked me being a dressmaker because she always had so many scraps to sew things for her dollies. She helped me quite a lot setting the table and washing and drying dishes and making beds. Artie helped me too and he made his bed and Danny's every morning. Danny made fun of him but Artie never paid much attention to what Danny said. Beatty would get fits and help very hard for a little while but she didn't keep it up for long.
But what worried me most was Beatty and Danny together. The way they were always fighting together was terrible. Danny teased Beatty all the time. He tore her paper dolls and he slapped her if I wasn't around and Beatty would get so mad with him and scream and scream.
