Frank said he would stop smoking cigars and he said one of the boys in the club showed him how to make his own cigarettes. He bought the papers all made up in little round things and they were hard half the way up and he had a funny little machine that put the tobacco in and he pushed the tobacco down with his moustache curler because it was just the right size.
Frank always like to look nice and on Sunday mornings I used to just watch him because I could see how much pleasure it gave him to get all fixed. He would begin early in the morning and he would take out his stone to sharpen the razor and he would wet it with some special stuff and he would sharpen and sharpen and sharpen. And then he would take his leather strop and he would rub the razor up and down and pull out his hair to try and see if it was sharp enough. And the way he did it all was just like when I bathed the baby and I think he liked it just as much. Then he would cut a newspaper into small squares and after he put the soap on his face he would take it of with the razor and make little dabs of it on the paper. Frank was so neat and tidy and the little dabs were always so even on the pieces of paper. And afterwards he would make his little round iron hot.and put wax on it and curl his moustache. And then he would come over to me and kiss me because I told him once I loved to
kiss him after he curled his moustache because the wax had cologne on it and he smelled so warm and waxy and nice around the mouth. It was Christmas time when I weaned the baby and so
