Mothers Cry

the afternoon I had nothing to do and I would go and visit mama or do some sewing and pretty soon it would be time to get supper ready and then oh how lovely it was to hear Frank coming up the stairs and I would run to the door as soon as I got my hands wiped and he would give me such a hug.
Then a funny , thing happened to me and I asked mama about it and if it had anything to do with being married and mama laughed and kissed me and said we'll wait a week or so more to make sure but I think you're going to have a baby. If you feel like vomiting in the mornings that's a sure sign. She said I better not tell Frank though till we were sure. So then a few more weeks passed by and one morning right while I was in the middle of making Frank's breakfast I got such a spell and I felt like all my insides were coming up and I lay down and when it passed I cried and cried. And Frank got so worried and said should he call a doctor and I said no it's because I'm going to have a baby and Frank began to kiss me all over and I was afraid he would be late for work and so I told him he mustn't any more and he must hurry so he said oh Mary I'm sorry you feel sick but you won't feel like this for a long time and I'm so glad we're going to have a baby. So I was glad too and after Frank went to work I felt better again and mama told Frank that if he would give me my coffee and something to eat in bed before I got up I wouldn't feel so bad and so he did every morning for a long time and I didn't feel so bad when I got up but I didn't like to have Frank waiting on me. And then after about a month I didn't feel bad in the mornings any more.
It got to be New Years and I remember how different that New Years was from all the other New Years because every body said we were beginning a new century and everybody was so serious about it and saying what will the next hundred
