" It's O.K. Callahan," he said now, " the Doc was interested in what's been goin' on in these parts, but like you he kept quiet. He saw Tuck and Charlie, but he wasn't lettin' on."
Doc Grant looked a little sheepish. It seemed that when Callahan had asked him about Charlie, the Doc had wondered about Callahan, just as the hotel owner had wondered about him !
" Guess we were busy suspectin' each other," he added. " It gets you after a bit, you find yourself suspectin' your own grandmother ! "
Callahan frowned for a moment but then his face cleared.
