How To Live On Twenty-Four Hours A Day

The Pxoverb that time is money understates the case. Time is the inexplicable raw material of everything. The supply of time is truly a daily miracle. You wake up in the morning, and lo! your purse is magically filled with 24 hours of the unmanufactured tissue of your life, the most precious of possessions.
No one can take it from you. It is unstealable. No one receives either more or less than you receive. Wealth or genius is never rewarded by even an extra hour a day. And there is no punishment. Waste this precious commodity as you will, and the supply will never be withheld from you.
You have to live on this 24 hours of daily time. Out of it you have to spin health, pleasure, money, content, respect, and the evolution of your immortal soul. If one can't contrive to live on a certain income of money, one earns a little more, or one balances the budget. But if one cannot arrange that an income of 24 hours a day shall exactly cover all proper items of expenditure, one muddles one's whole life.
Which of us has not been saying to himself all his life: "I shall alter this or that when I have a little more time?" Which of us is not haunted by the feeling that the years slip by, and that we have not yet been able to get our lives into proper working order? We have, and we have always had, all the time there is. It is the realization of this profound and neglected truth that has led me to the minute practical examination of daily time-expenditure.
