REUNION

muttering to himself. As soon as he was inside the house behind her, she hurried on towards the other door. It would take a quick bit of work to get inside without being seen. Should she wait till dark?-if she did, she might be held up because of those keys. He might become suspicious, and then her chance would be gone. Then a brain wave struck her. She would open the door, then throw the keys along the gravel drive towards the main door so that he would be sure to see them the next time he came out. If he were afraid of this strange illness that attacked the memory he might be doubtful of himself and believe it was his own fault all the time !
Boldly she examined the bunch. Fortunately for her plan, one key seemed to stand out as the one required. She took it carefully and got it ready for action. Slipping from behind the bush which grew alongside the doorway she inserted the key-it turned! Quickly she pulled it out and flung the bunch towards the main entrance. They went a good way then fell with a resounding crash on the path about ten feet from the steps. Veronica did not wait to see what happened. She slipped inside and the door closed behind her with a sneck! It was only then, that she realised she was now as much a prisoner as the boys ! The keys were lying on the path outside the door! .. . But such is the buoyancy of victory that she was not dismayed. Surely these three could work out some plan for getting away now that she was here?
She had no more time for thought. Disturbed by the noise of her entrance, the three boys had come to see what it was all about.
" Veronica," yelled Bunny.
We will draw a veil over the rest of the meeting.
