They went through a doorway which had been hidden in the shadow until now, and discovered that they were in a long barn-like place-equally as dark and gloomy as the grinding room of the mill. But there was nothing to help them here, only the traces of decay and dilapidation. There was a further door at the end of the barn, but they decided to return and try upstairs again before exploring that. It did not take them long to climb up, once more passing through the room where they had found the ring. There was no doubt whatever, that someone had been using the place quite recently.
" Look here," cried Ajax, who had been poking about in the shadows at the other side of the room. "A folding bed."
